If you have ADHD, you may find that planning and executing tasks can be a challenge. It can feel disappointing to fall short of task completion, and this can have negative impacts on self esteem.
In the therapy room, we may find ourselves looking at executive function. Here’s a few ways I support you in therapy:

🫶 Accepting where you’re at: I am there to support you in where you are, and to work from there. I follow your priorities - so if you’d prefer to work on other issues in an ADHD-inclusive space, we can totally do that.
But if you want to have a look at day-to-day functions, we can nonjudgmentally map out what’s going on for you and what you’d like to work on.
We can focus on playing to your strengths, finding ways to get things done in your own way.
😔 Reducing shame: It’s useful to accept that things may not always go perfectly, and working on mindset around mistakes is important. We can also process some of the pain created by the criticism of others in this area - it's hard enough trying to get things done, but we also may be carrying negativity from people around us.

💡 Doing things that work: This process involves stepping away from masking, and working things out in a neurodivergently supportive way. This allows for mistakes and works on improvement that suits you.
🔧 Using tools to support you: There are so many handy tools to support ADHD functions, such as visual timers, fidget devices and planners. Finding something that feels easy and useful can take time, but it can really support you in moving forward.

🪴 Connecting with ADHD resources: Support groups, books, Youtube - there’s a wealth of resources to help support your journey with ADHD, and people to connect with and understand you along the way. We can explore some of your options and work towards engaging with them.
