about me

April Cunliffe MBACP

I love being a therapist. I meet so many wonderful people, and it is an honour to support them in their journeys.

I volunteer as a drugs and alcohol counsellor and a trans counsellor, as I want to give back to the community.

When I’m not working, I am walking my dog, drawing or swimming. I see my work as a wonderful part of my balance, and I am always excited to see my clients.

my story

I have been on my own mental health recovery journey, and I know how hard it can be to get out of bed, take care of yourself and talk to people. Over the years, I have been to therapy, healed, and built a joyful life that I love. I truly believe in our ability to change and feel better. And the fact that you're here and considering this, means that you hope for better things. I hope these things for you too.

I love my work, and it is such a privilege to meet so many awesome people. I always look forward to seeing my clients, and no matter how painful you feel your story to be, I will hold it with kindness and safety. We all have memories of pain, and we all have things we wish we could undo. In working through this stuff, we can free ourselves from the sharpness of these memories, and move forward more joyfully.

my counselling space

Maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything. Maybe it’s about un-becoming everything that isn’t really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.
